(31/08/10) The 2010 Exmouth Beach League season came to an end today, with the annual BBQ beach session, end of season awards and playing on in to the sun set. It's been an excellent season this year, with only a couple of weeks missed due to bad weather and this year beach fours league has been the largest todate.
Team "Sea Side Specials" from Ottery St Mary picked up the league prize, a set of Exmouth Beach Volleyball mugs as this years winners of the 2010 Recreational Beach 4's League.
Ash Miller, Tash Harmer, Scott Connett and Trevor Connett, 2010 Winners.
Although the official beach season has now finished, members can borrow nets etc if the weather looks good. For everyone else, have a good indoor season. Don't forget that you can keep up todate with all the local volleyball news at the www.EDVA.org.uk web site.
(28/08/10) The final league positions are now available. Seaside Specials held on to their top spot they've had for the previous few weeks, with The Great Pretenders lying in 2nd and a close battle for 3rd place between Scared Hitless and Boys Own went down to points difference with Boys Own pipping Scared Hitless at the post.
It'll be the last official Tuesday evening on the 31st August. Bring your own BBQ per team and some bits to put on it as we'll have a barbie if the weather's looking good. Keep an eye on the website for the latest go/no go.
(08/08/10) It was another fantastic day at the beach on Sunday for the 2010 Exmouth Beach Pairs Open Tournament. Teams came from all around the South West with a few teams coming from as far away as London.
But it was local talent at the end of the day that took the final positions and
with it the 2010 Exmouth title in both the ladies' and the men’s events.
Exmouth Beach Volleyball Club pairings of Silvia Angelini & Gosia Krzyszkowska and Ali West & Nikki Batho both made it through to this year's ladies final, with Angelini & Krzykowska taking the match 2-0.
Danny Lewis & Jo Willis from Ottery St Mary had an epic match against last year's runners up, Lewis and Stout from Wales in the men's final. After taking the first set, the match looked like it was going to a third and final set but a late charge by Lewis & Willis in the second set got them through to a 2-0 score line and the 2010 Men’s title.
They finished fourth in last year's championships, beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual winners. This year they were more prepared and paced themselves during the day which eventually paid off bringing them the championship title.
Thank you to all who played at the pairs tournament; we had a great day of sunshine and volleyball, a selection of photos from the weekend can be seen online here. Full results can be found on the results page.
