Exmouth Beach Volleyball League

This year we have set up a beach volleyball programme with respect to the Players' Survey and the Exmouth Beach League Proposal. The programme will provide beach coaching and training, plus a beach pairs (women's & men's) league and a recreational beach fours league.

Entry Forms

Entry forms for the Ladies', Men's & Recreational 4's can be downloaded by clicking on the link in the right hand navigation column.

When

We have permission from the beach owner (EDDC) to run a 17 week Tuesday night programme, starting on the 13th May and finishing on the 2nd September. The League will run from 7 pm until 9 pm (or Dusk), with nets up from 6:30 pm.

Week 1 (13th May) will be a shake down session, to get your sand legs back, take your pairs introduction lesson (if required), have some friendly matches and finish with a drink in the "Bath House".

The beach league program will start on 20th May (Week 2).

Where

On the "No Swimming Area" of Exmouth Beach, where the Exmouth Tournament is held, next to the permanent beach nets.

Courts

Each week we expect to have at least seven courts available, for Beach Pairs and for Beach Fours, a drop in / warm up net and a coaching net. We are expecting to be able to use the two permanent nets for the drop in and coaching courts.

Cost

£5 per player per league. It is anticipated that the league program will enable players to play in both the Pairs and Fours.

Drop in / coaching court (for non league members) is £2 per player per week.

Weather

A call will be made on the day by the "Beach League Coordinator" and if the evening session is to be cancelled, a note will be placed on the web site by 17:30. This worked well last year, see our session details page.

Beach Fours Format

This will be a recreational league, self reffed, single set, with two matches per evening, league points awarded per team. Teams can be made up of 4, 5, 6 players etc, sub in etc. as required, beach rules will apply.

Additional team members can join during the season, there will also be points during the season when new or additional teams can join the league as well.

Need to miss a week (team on holiday)? No problem, just let us know.

Beach Pairs Format

This will be run as a formal Men's & Women's league, two players per team, single set (first to 31 point by two clear points), self reffed to start with, full beach rules, points awarded per player. As we have several players training for the Volleyball England Beach Tour, VEBT (the National League of the beach world), it will be compulsory to use the standard Beach Volleyball Hand Signals in all matches. This also allows partners to interchange etc.

All players entering or new to the league will have to attend a short introduction and demonstrate the use of the Beach Hand Signals (hence the training / coaching nets). See the Rules & Tips page on how to play beach pairs volleyball.

We can also add teams during the season, interchange it with a King & Queen league, host guest teams from other leagues etc.
