Sunday 16th August
We were blessed with an amazing day for the Exmouth Beach Open Pairs Tournament with light winds and sunshine all day. Teams came from all over the South West and Midlands with 18 mens teams and 12 womens teams competing.
The standard was particularly high again in the men's tournament with some very close run matches, ending in a final between Matt Mollen and Pete Sznicer who beat juniors Ryan Stout and Aiden Lewis 2-0 (21-15, 21-18).
In the women's event a close final was fought between last year's winner Gosia Krzyszkowska playing with last year's runner up Clare Babbage against Birmingham pairing Joanna Bukowska and Karolina Dorobisz. The home pairing lost the first set 17-21 but stepped up a level in the second to take it 21-9. They maintained their high standards to take the final set 15-7.
